Chef Chris van Wyk, founder member of Amaqueta foods, in catering has been involved in cooking from an early age after being inspired by his mentor and friend Paul Van Wilderode,a french chef while he was working as a student in the Kruger National Park. For the past 32 years he has been working in the culinary industry locally and abroad. After completing his 4 years apprenticeship with the Southern Sun group, working at the Malelane lodge and the 5 star Maharani hotel, he ventured abroad to work in Germany for one year, at the 4 star Hannover Inter Continental Hotel. He returned back to his homeland and worked a year at the 5 star Sandton Sun Hotel and afterwards moved to the Fancourt Hotel in George, where he has worked for 6 more years as an executive sous chef and later as Head Chef. During this time he was involved for 10 years as member and later captain of the South African National Culinary Team, and travelled abroad yearly to compete in International competitions. Probably the most memorable was competing in the prestigious Bocuse d OʻR competition held in Lyon France in 97.
He started Amaqueta foods and catering in 2001 and has been supplying the industry with quality products ever since. His motto is to treat food as you would treat your wife, namely with respect. His philosophy is to sell quality and consistent food that one can be proud of. We are an innovative team that does not stand back for any challenge. We specialize in outside catering par excellence and pride ourselves with it. He have been packing ready to eat products for the retail market for the last 18 years and run a SAFSIS approved facility. He has a passion to serve and are humbled to have the knowledge to create good food which only comes from our Heavenly Father.
Brandt Visser is a well known resident of George for the past 42 years. He matriculated at the Outeniqua High School and then studied in Cape Town and became an entrepreneur.
Brandt is known for his knowledge in the building Industry and more specific Manufacturing and Installation of Aluminium Windows & Doors for the past 23 years. Brandt Visser like to dream big and always have a vision for a new business opportunity. He has a great passion for food and donʻt backoff to try new things. If his eye is set on the end goal, he will push hard to achieve it. This venture was born in his heart 3 years ago and we are excited to launch the new restaurant in partnership with this Excellent Chef Chris van Wyk.
The two partners know each other for 21 years and have a great respect for each others differences, vision and expertise. Together and with God as their foundation they have a strong relationship and the guests will have the best food experience of their lives.
